What you give, you receive
ten-fold.
Recycle Your Mat started with
the hope of supporting the
entire yoga industry. Of course, we could not serve an entire industry
without the support of those in the industry. Lucky for us, it
wasn't long before yoga product companies rallied around in support of
our mission.
We encourage support of the following organizations that work in
numerous ways each day to create a cleaner industry.
Within
weeks of starting Recycle Your Mat, Manduka reached out in support of
our mission. From advice to industry insight to the countless hours
their staff have worked to support Recycle Your Mat, we are forever
grateful. It's this continuting effort and support that is the reason
Recycle Your Mat chooses to promote Manduka in a number of
ways.
Hugger Mugger has provided insight into the
challenges of yoga mat recycling. They were the first
to include
Recycle Your Mat information in their packaging. In
2010 they began including the Recycle Your Mat logo on mat packaging to educate yogis about our service.
Kulae
is a newcomer to the industry and is committed to selling only
environmentally friendly mats. A company with a socially responsible
focus, Kulae holds true
to the idea of what goes around, comes around. As two companies looking
to continue to grow sustainably, we're looking
forward to continuing
to share lessons learned.

A
wonderful company run by a wonderful woman. If we were mothers, we're
pretty sure we'd want to be just like Katy. Her efforts to green the
yoga industry are much larger than her company and she proves it only
takes one person to make a big impact.
Since
we began speaking with Mandala last year they have altered their waste
disposal to include reuse of scraps of mat left over after
producing their large
circular mats. With their waste stream narrowed,
they set a great example of how creative thinking can bring about
significant change for the better.
Embrace
Activism is a wonderful example of providing consumers with goods that
can benefit causes the consumer cares about. A great model for
retailers that wish to provide their consumers an opportunity to
fulfill their need as well as the need of others with every purchase.
Whether late at night or on the weekend, the members of the Green Yoga Association are happy to share
their passion and brainstorm how we can work together to keep greening
the industry.
The
European Yoga
Network tackled yoga industry waste far before anyone else did. Their
unique way of sharing info and providing mat reuse is a great example
of utilizing local communities to tackle a global cause. If we only did
mat donation, we'd do it just like them.
We
admire Love Peace Yoga for highlighting the very best in the yoga
community and beyond. By featuring people and products that stand for
good it's a nice dose of positivity and way to spread the good work
happening in your community and around the world.
In
Mexico, Davanna Yoga is helping tackle a persistent local problem. With
many mats left behind from vacationing tourists or part-time residents,
they have found a
creative way to reuse the mats and thus minimizing
waste.
